Cyclist #1 is training for a charity bike ride of 100 miles. After 4 weeks his progress is slowing and his motivation and enthusiasm is dropping.
He gets angry and cross with himself. He wants to complete the charity cycle. So he questions why this is happening. He knows he needs to get fitter and he cannot quit the plan. He pushes himself. Tries to force himself back to training. He talks to himself about it. He writes a list of targets. A list of goals…..
Cyclist #2 is training for the same charity cycle ride of 100 miles. He too has hit the 4 week “wall” and his motivation is at an all time low. He starts missing training.
His training partner calls him and asks what’s happening. He makes excuses. His training partner listens then tells him to get back to training. No excuses. No bull****, just start training again. He says they are a team and they train TOGETHER. That he is important to the team and he is missed…..
Which cyclist do you think completed their training and went on to success in the Century Bike Ride?
I leave you with an epic speech by Al Pacino which says everything you ever need to remember about the importance of having a team to back you up.
